BEST OF NAMIBIA

The highlights of Namibia are cleverly combined on this 15-day self-drive tour. The route leads from Windhoek to the red dunes of the Kalahari, the highest dunes in the world around the Sossusvlei, the historic port town of Swakopmund with its numerous activities, the culturally and historically significant Damaraland, the Etosha National Park and the Waterberg Region with its very own flora and fauna.

1 night Windhoek – House on Olof Palme
Castles, churches and palaces, parks and museums - at first glance, the sights of Windhoek do not differ from those of popular European cities. It's not typically Africa, but that is also the reason why Windhoek is simply something special. House on Olof Palme is an urban retreat with a personal touch, blending the convenience of city life, countryside and airport proximity.
2 nights Kalahari – Bagatelle Kalahari Lodge
Located on the edge of the southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub savannah, the lodge is crisscrossed by huge red sand dunes. Typical animals to be seen are antelopes, springboks, zebras, ostriches, meerkats and cheetahs. Visitors can ride a horse through the dunes and explore the landscape or learn about the ancient traditions with bushmen.
2 nights Sesriem – Sossus Dune Lodge
Sossus Dune lodge is built in an environmentally sensitive manner, primarily from wood, canvas and thatch. Because the lodge is situated within the Namib Naukluft Park, guests have the added advantage of reaching Sossusvlei before sunrise to witness a kaleidoscope of colours reflecting off the dunes in the early morning light as well as stay well after sunset to be enchanted by a blanket of stars of the southern sky.
2 nights Swakopmund – Cornerstone Guesthouse
In close vicinity of Swakopmund a lot of activities can be done, amongst other things boat tours with a seal whisperer, exciting desert tours ("The desert is alive"), quad biking, kayaking tours and much more. Occupying a quiet corner of Swakopmund’s old town, Cornerstone Guesthouse offers the charm and intimacy of a family-run B&B combined with the modern amenities of a luxury hotel.
1 night Northern Damaraland – Etendeka Mountain Camp
Dramatically set in the foothills of the Grootberg massif, Etendeka Mountain Camp appeals to the traveller who is prepared to step outside of their comfort zone and experience this remote wilderness with its harsh beauty in an authentic way. Pathways lead to ten private shaded en-suite Meru tents with their stunning eco-friendly open-air “bucket” showers. It is simple comfort in a rugged and harsh landscape.
2 nights Etosha South – Etosha Safari Lodge
Etosha is one of Africa's great wildlife parks and Namibia's prime wilderness conservation area. The lodge is situated only ten kilometres from the Park's central entrance and offers top grade accommodation with its lavish view, spacious deck- and dining-area and airy rooms with private verandas. Early morning or late afternoon game drives provide the best game viewing.
2 nights Etosha East – Mushara Lodge
Located just 8 km from the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park, Mushara Lodge is an ideal stop for visitors to the game reserve. It’s built around a beautiful green garden with a swimming pool. It is not uncommon for antelopes to browse the property. Exceptional food and friendly staff complete a stay to something out of a dream.
2 nights Otjiwarongo / Waterberg – Frans Indongo Lodge
Situated in the heart of the Savannah on 120 km² of land, the farm hosts a range of Game. It is the ideal stop when travelling between Windhoek and Etosha National Park. A stay at Frans Indongo Lodge is not complete without a visit to the Cheetah Conservation Fund (CCF), that is situated only 1 hour 15 minutes from the Lodge. CCF is the world’s leading organization dedicated to saving the Cheetah in the wild.
