East Africa is where the traditional image of the African safari was born — wide-open savannahs, iconic acacia trees, great herds of wildlife, and rich pastoral cultures. Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda together offer a diverse blend of classic safari experiences, exceptional wildlife viewing, dramatic landscapes, and deeply immersive cultural encounters.
From the Maasai Mara’s predator-rich plains to the majestic Ngorongoro Crater and the endless Serengeti, this region is ideal for travellers who dream of classic African scenes paired with luxury lodges, expert guiding, and seamless fly-in connections.
East Africa is a year-round safari destination.
This classic safari season is generally dry in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda / Twanda. Vegetation thins out and many animals gather around water sources, creating excellent wildlife viewing conditions.
All four countries experience brief rains that bring the landscape to life. Safari experiences remain very good, and there are fewer travelers.
These months are mostly dry. While Kenya and Tanzania tend to be hot and humid, temperatures in Uganda and Rwanda are usually pleasantly warm.
Heavier rains can limit access to some areas. The landscape in all three countries becomes especially lush and green.
Note: Compared to Kenya and Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda generally has more pronounced rainy seasons and milder dry periods, resulting in a somewhat wetter climate year-round.
